Do you have to use the cycle path in Spain?
In Spain, cyclists are only required to use cycle paths if this is clearly indicated by a traffic sign.
Exceptions
The cycle path is poorly maintained or unsafe.
The cycle path is unusable (e.g. blocked).
In these cases, you may simply use the road.
No sign = no mandatory cycle path.
Tunnel between Spain and Morocco is getting closer
After decades of planning, the railway tunnel between Spain and Morocco is finally getting underway. The 60 km long connection, partly under the sea, is gaining increasing political and financial support and could become one of the longest undersea tunnels in the world.
The route via the Umbral de Camarinal is technically favourable, but there are challenges: earthquake risk, strong currents and differences in railway systems. The costs are estimated at at least 15 billion euros.
Feasibility and safety studies are in full swing, with help from European funds and international companies. If all goes well, construction will start in the 2030s and the tunnel will open around 2040. The connection could radically change trade, tourism and geopolitical relations between Europe and Africa.

Are cheap second homes in Spain a thing of the past?
The Spanish government wants to impose a higher tax rate on non-EU citizens who buy a home, with a levy of up to 100%. Tourist rentals will also be tackled more rigorously.
The goal: to cool the overheated housing market and make housing more affordable for Spaniards.

Yet, many Spaniards, especially young people, are desperate due to the exploding prices.
Prime Minister Sánchez promises more social housing, but the pace is slow.
